Safety Tips on Walking After Dark

To all of us, it is never safe to walk after dark. I mean all kinds of bad things might happen and we all want to avoid it. When I was working, my schedule was night shift and during those times I was always nervous walking out on the streets. I get used to it but I looked for some tips on how it can be safe walking after dark.

TIPS ON STAYING SAFE AFTER DARK:

  • - Be visible. Use reflective clothing and accessories that will make it easier for motorists to notice you.
  • - Walk on sidewalks all the time, be careful on alleys because this is where some vehicles may appear unexpectedly, and pay attention to headlights.
  • - Carry a flashlight for you’ll be able to see better and others will see you better too.
  • - Beware of bad guys and to do this, you’ll have to look tough. Try to wear a shirt that has a police or military logo and walk with confidence.
  • - Never walk on an exact route on the same time every day.

Thoughts of Friendster

Most of the people us are into friendster. All of my brothers and sisters had their own account even my youngest brother who is only 12 years old. I was wondering what is with friendster and why most of us are into it. I guess, you’ll be able to meet people all over the world. Meeting people is really fun. I have my own friendster account but the only thing was the friends listed on my account are those people who really are close to me. What I mean was I’ve known them not through friendster (lol). Friendster is fun because you’ve get to upload pictures and that’s what I love about it (lol). I found some of my old friends whom I never met for a long time. What else, I have fun looking on my friend’s pictures. I guess most of us have different kinds of reason why we joined friendster but for the most part it’s all about meeting people.

Save on Gas

Nowadays budgeting money is a very tough job. We need to make sure that our money will last till our next payday. But sometimes if we have a car we tend to ride a bus or a train to our office instead because it will save us money. So, what is the sense of having a car then? It will be great if we can use our car and save up money the same time. We’ll avoid riding in a very crowded bus or train and we’ll be able to save up. I found this article which can help all of us and I hope that you’ll be able to find these tips helpful.

1. Don’t be idle. A big no-no: letting the engine run, with the air conditioning on, while waiting or parked. That’s actually more wasteful than restarting the engine. So, if you have to wait more than a minute, open the car windows and turn the engine off. In the same way, make your warm-ups short. Half a minute is long enough, so drive off.

2. Don’t be fast and furious. Don’t rev up your engine, even if you think you’re Vin Diesel. And be gentle on the brake and gas pedals. Hard stops and fast starts waste fuel.

3. Gas up properly. Buy gas at cooler hours, like early morning or at night, to reduce gas evaporation. Also, avoid buying higher octane gas than necessary. And don’t overfill the tank to prevent evaporation.

4. Don’t be a drag. Take out stuff you don’t need from the backseat or trunk. Every extra 100 pounds of excess weight reduces fuel economy by 1%-2%.

5. Take care of your tires. Make sure your tires are properly inflated; otherwise it will take your engine more effort and energy to run. It’s costly too, adding six percent to fuel consumption for every pound the tire is under inflated.

6. Tune up. Get a regular tune-up as recommended by your car manufacturer. That includes changing your oil and filters regularly, to keep the engine running smoothly. Poorly tuned engines increase fuel consumption by 10%-20%.

Our Fiesta

It’s fiesta in our Barangay last Sunday. I never get to experience our fiesta last year because of my job so I am so excited this year. We are so busy all morning to preparing foods because every fiesta everyone will visit your place so you better have plenty of food for those who will visit your place. We have parlor games for kids and we also have some events. In our place we had a dance contest where all teenagers compete with one another, then we had a singing contest, and then we had a beauty contest which is very exciting because one of friends was a contestant on that pageant which makes me so busy. I haven’t had enough sleep since last Saturday because of those events because it only happens once a year that’s why I don’t want to miss it. Well you see, during these days I noticed that all of us are happy and we forget all our problems. All we do is to welcome those people who come in to our house and we serve them food. I mean why, can’t we all care about everyone like that everyday. Why do we have to wait for a fiesta before we show to everybody that we care about them or maybe we are just showing off because it’s fiesta. I mean that’s our tradition and yes we can never change that. But, what I want to say is it will be better if really care for other people everyday and not just for a day. Yes, all of us in our place had a good time celebrating our fiesta. But I wish that all of us will learn to care for one another not just for a day but forever.

Let Toshiba Robot do it for you....

I was browsing the net yesterday and I found this article in MSN.com about Toshiba robot that can do the job of a remote control. The said robot is equipped with sensors that detect infrared rays from remote control. If you are tired in remembering which button to press to turn on your appliances, this time all you have to do is to ask this robot to turn on let’s say the television or other appliances for you. The said robot is still in the development stage. It just amazes me technology changes, right now we’ll have robots that can do the simple job for us. I was thinking, what about tomorrow? If you like to read the full article in MSN click here.
